Australia

Western Desert NWPT Aboriginal Corporation, Alice Springs

Project to renovate a community building at Kintore to house a Dialysis unit, staff accommodation, hydroponic garden and develop skills in the community. Not registered for tax deductibility.

Bangladesh

Aussie Bangla Smile Project, Dhaka

Surgical teams to repair cleft palates and facial disfigurements and, at the same time, train local doctors and nurses to perform these procedures.

Bangladesh

School at Amena Baki Residential School, Dhaka, Bangladesh

The purchase and installation of a power generator to the school. Upgrade schools rooms, replacing windows and doors etc.

Cambodia

Eyecamps in Cambodia

The performing of cataract operations, prescription of glasses and provision of medication for local people who have eyesight problems.

Cambodia

Building houses under Tabitha Cambodia Program, Cambodia

Building houses for villages under Tabitha Cambodia Program, Phnom Phen and Kampong Thom. Project Volunteer teams will provide cost of materials at US$860 per house. General building skills required - Ok for women

China

Qinghai Solar Cooker Project, China

To provide funding for the manufacture of low tech, solar heaters to provide an alternative to the use of coal, which the villager can ill afford

East Timor

Dental Teams for East Timor

3 or 4 Dental teams per year

East Timor

Restoration of Natarbora Agricultural College, East Timor

Large project requiring teams over 3 years (teams of 3 or 6 people). Need builders, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, glaziers, painters and water engineers.

Fiji

Nabavatu Village Project

A long term, very large project to provide self -sufficiency to the village by the provision of water, reticulation, toilets, community buildings etc. Both funding and volunteers required.

Ghana

Ghana Literacy Project. (Funding only)

To advance the opportunities for students and community members in the village of Pokuase, Ghana by influencing the literacy rates of students and families.

India

Rebuilding permanent homes in Paravaipet, Pondicherry, India

To rebuild 44 permanent homes, including provision of clean water and sanitation in tsunami damaged village.

Try-a-Trade Provisional
- Coordinator Megan Valentine
Career Development through 'Try-a-Trade' aimed at developing and supporting training and apprenticeship programs.
 
RYLA  - Rotary Youth Leadership Award
- Coordinator Julie Midson York
This program is for young men and women between 18 and 25 years showing leadership qualities, and is conducted during a week-long seminar where all awardees live-in.
 
New Generations and MUNA
- Coordinator Megan Valentine/ Julie Midson York
This annual conference gives youth a forum where concerns of today's youth can be addressed and their sense of civic responsibilies fostered.
 
National Youth Science Forum

This annual 2-week program is held in Canberra each January and competitive interviews are conducted for places. Newcastle Sunrise assisted in sponsoring Vanessa Bailey for the 2009 event.
 
Youth Exchange Program  - Julie Midson York - New Generation Director
Sunrise provides assistance in preparing outgoing students, placement of incoming students, and counselling inbound students.
 

In 2006/07/08 students from France (Fabienne Mornet) and Denmark (Kristoffer Pinholt) were Sunrise's inbound students. A local Year 12 student (Lucas Griffin) was sponsored by Sunrise as our 2008 outgoing student to Finland.
